ABOUT PAULA

Paula Pink is a photographic artist based in Charlotte, North Carolina. Originally from Edinburgh, Scotland, she trained and worked as a graphic designer in London and holds a bachelor’s degree in liberal arts from The New School in New York. Her work has appeared in national and international exhibitions and is held in private collections worldwide.

Paula explores contemporary approaches to alternative and experimental photographic practices rooted in the medium’s innovative origins - working predominantly without a camera to investigate the natural world through both a scientific curiosity and deeply intuitive lens. With light and chemistry as collaborators, she engages unseen physical forces to reveal what is delicate and easily overlooked - patterns in nature, organic forms, and the interconnectedness of all things - inviting viewers to contemplate the wonders of nature, and its fragility, as an essential part of our shared existence.

“I’m never quite certain what will unfold when I’m exploring and experimenting with these processes, but I do know I have this enduring, intrinsic desire and curiosity to uncover what our world is “about”- I always have - and if I’m honest, when I look at all my images, after the fact and creation, I think I am possibly looking at an x-ray of everything inside of me”.
